Polo Horses from Argentina

The 2R Polo Farm stocks approximately 50 polo horses for breeding with 20-30 for sale. The ideal age for the polo pony is 4-5 years. Most of our polo horses are Thoroughbred because of their speed. Some of our horses are mix (7/8 Thoroughbred and 1/8 Argentine Criollo) because of their toughness and resistance to injury and they are easier to handle and train. We school the horse by repetition and patience -- some would say "con pasiensia y saliva" -- but our philosophy is that if you get angry while teaching the young horse, then you lose. It takes time to make a good pony. We start with walking, stopping, back, turning, all the moves. A good polo pony, should be like a good racing car. It has many gears, and it should go well in all the gears. The more expensive ponies are the ones that go well in 6th gear -- for hi-goal polo -- but not all polo players need that speed. The horse has to learn polo by steps, and the horse must turn gracefully with the back legs following the front (some horses turn a little sideways), so these are details that we concentrate on. Our farm is in the small town of Villa Dolores (near Cordoba) and we are located about 1 km from the polo club. The price of the polo horse can be from 5-7,000 US$ for low goal polo and then from 7-8,000 US$ for hi goal polo. This is the price at our farm. We can arrange shipping to any place in the world (approximately 6-7,000 US$ per horse to Asia, and 5-6,000 US$ per horse to America). We can arrange Vet checks before purchase and shipping, or you are welcome to have your vet check the horses. We welcome serious buyers to come and ride and check the horses thoroughly by themselves at our farm. We can also arrange for the horses to go to Buenos Aires for you to ride and inspect them, but there are some transport and handling costs involved for this. We have been breeding polo horses for aver 10 years and have sold over 150 horses. We have come to do this business full time in the past 4 years and have sold over 50 horses.
